All fabric I use for my handmade items is prewashed in cold water. Prewashing is done to remove chemicals used in the printing & production process as well as to prevent future shrinkage of the garment.
However, I use a lot of knit fabrics in my items, and these tend to continue to shrink over time. This is just the nature of the fabric. To prevent this, I recommend the following fabric care guidelinesI recommend washing all LPP items in cold water and hanging to dry. (Your item will not fall apart should it find its way to the dryer, but it will preserve the life of the garment if it's hung to dry.)
Certain knit fabrics are known to pill when washed with rough items such as jeans, towels or items with zippers or velcro. To prevent pilling, I recommend washing LPP items with like fabrics.
